Barbara Jean Wilson is a lived experience survivor of childhood sexual abuse, human trafficking, and familial trafficking. She is also a two-time author of Mute But Now I Speak and Blessings After Going Through The Valley.
Mute But Now I Speak won the 2023 International Book Award from Hope PYX Global at their International Conference held at Houston Community College on October 26, 2023, in Houston, Texas.
Barbara’s testimony reveals how she overcame the pain of childhood sexual abuse, familial trafficking, and human trafficking, and how she has received blessings in her life. She has spoken at the United Nations in New York, NY; the Department of Justice in Washington, DC; and served as a keynote speaker for the Women Economic Forum at the University of Albuquerque (NM), the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville, AR), and Germanna Community College (Fredericksburg, VA).
She has also been a panelist at the NYPD Cyber Intelligence Conference (New York, NY, August 2021) and at the National Child Protection Task Force Conference (Fayetteville, AR, June 2021). In October 2023, Barbara traveled to the Caribbean to serve as the keynote speaker at The Dr. J.P. Eustace Secondary School in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Her speaking engagements focus heavily on bringing awareness to the challenges of human trafficking, familial trafficking, and sexual, physical, and mental abuse, as well as the overwhelming impact these issues have on victims, survivors, and communities.
In addition to receiving the international book award for Mute But Now I Speak, Barbara has been honored with an award from WUAWSU Project, Inc. (New York, NY) for her special services to the community and the positive influence she has had on many lives. While employed at Freddie Mac, she was nominated by her peers and received the Woman of the Year Award from the Women’s Interactive Network (WIN), where she was also featured as a panelist alongside the Prince William County Chief of Police.
Barbara is an active member of RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), headquartered in Washington, DC, and holds a BBA from Strayer University.
